Guest being handed a dish at a foodstand during an evening event
Article

Which catering concept suits your event?

We cater four concepts, and they are not interchangeable. Each concept is built for a different kind of evening, and priced on a different basis, which says more about its character than the menu card does. A short guide.

When do you choose a Walking Dinner?

Choose a Walking Dinner when the food is the evening and the conversation has to keep going at the same time. It is six to eight small courses served while your guests stand, move around and talk: our fine dining in motion, with the same dishes you would expect at a laid table. Only the service comes to the group rather than the other way round.

We price it per person, per menu and per number of courses, so you choose how long the evening runs. From 25 guests.

Foodstands: for an evening that runs on

Choose foodstands when your evening runs on and not everyone sits down at once. They are separate stands around the room that your guests visit whenever it suits them, so a programme with a speech, a band or drinks around it simply carries on.

We price them per stand and you can book a single one. That also makes it the concept that scales most easily: for a longer evening or a bigger group you add a stand rather than rethinking the whole menu.

When do you choose bites?

Choose bites for drinks before dinner, the reception after a ceremony, or an afternoon where nobody sits down at all. We make and charge each bite one at a time, so you decide exactly how much goes round.

Booked on their own they carry a minimum of 200. Combine them with a Walking Dinner or foodstands and that minimum falls away.

Custom catering: when none of the three fits

Choose custom catering when none of the other three concepts fits. We then put together a fully personal menu in close consultation with you, from amuse to dessert. This is the route for an event with a story of its own: a product launch, an anniversary, a wedding with one dish that simply has to be on it.

Designing such a menu carries a €100 contribution up front. You get that back afterwards as a discount on the final invoice, so it costs you nothing once the booking goes ahead.

Can you combine concepts?

Yes, and most evenings are a combination. Bites on arrival, then a Walking Dinner. Or foodstands as the main event with a dessert stand that opens later on. Tell us what the evening should look like and we will propose the combination that fits, staff, crockery and cutlery included, as with everything we do.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a Walking Dinner and foodstands?

At a Walking Dinner the courses are served to your guests at a set point in the evening; with foodstands guests visit the stands themselves whenever it suits them. The first is a dinner with an order to it, the second runs all evening.

Which concept has the lowest minimum?

Foodstands: you can book from a single stand. We serve a Walking Dinner from 25 guests, and bites carry a standalone minimum of 200.

Does the 200-bite minimum still apply if I combine them?

No. The 200-piece minimum only applies when you book bites on their own; if they sit alongside a Walking Dinner or foodstands, it does not count.

What does a fully bespoke menu cost?

There is no fixed rate per person: the number of courses, the number of guests and the ingredients decide what a bespoke menu costs. What is fixed is the €100 for the design, which you get back as a discount on the final invoice.
